With the State of Minnesota turning 150 years old next year, there are bound to be a number of celebrations taking place. One of them will be in June of 2008 in the Scandinavian community of Norseland, which will also will be celebrating its sesquicentennial. Norseland is located near St. Peter, and it was settled by Norwegian and Swedish immigrants in 1858. The celebration is being treated as a homecoming of sorts and will include a parade, picnic lunch, and a display of historic articles. The Norseland 150th Anniversary Committee has created a blog to share interesting tidbits of local history, as well as information leading up to the event.
